Brian Long - Founder & Owner

Brian Long founded BL Government Solutions in January 2023 with a clear mission: to give small businesses the same level of business development expertise and strategic support that large GovCon firms take for granted. Having spent more than 20 years working alongside and within government contractors of all sizes, from large enterprises to small, emerging businesses, Brian saw firsthand how much of a difference the right BD infrastructure, strategy, and guidance could make. He built BL Government Solutions to close that gap.
Brian brings a rare combination of big-business experience and a genuine passion for small business success. Throughout his career, he has held key leadership positions including Chief Operating Officer, Vice President, and Director-level roles at large, mid-size, and small government contracting firms, giving him a ground-level understanding of how GovCon organizations operate at every stage of growth. That experience across the full spectrum is what he now puts to work directly for his clients.
His background spans more than two decades supporting government contractors across the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, the Internal Revenue Service, and a wide range of other federal agencies. On the capture and proposal side, Brian has led and supported pursuits across the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps, with hands-on experience navigating complex contract vehicles including Seaport-NxG, RS3, VETS2, OASIS, and GSA schedules.

Our team is made up of experienced government contacting professionals across business development, capture, and technology - each playing a specific role in helping our clients build pipelines, pursue opportunities, and grow in the federal marketplace.

Capture Managers

Our Capture Managers serve as the strategic drivers behind each pursuit. They are responsible for assessing opportunity fit, developing win strategies, identifying competitive differentiators, and guiding clients through the full capture lifecycle from pre-solicitation through proposal submission. With experience across multiple branches of the military and federal civilian agencies, our Capture Managers understand what it takes to position a small business for a win before the solicitation ever drops.

BD Leads

Our Business Development Leads work directly with clients to identify and qualify opportunities, advise on contract vehicle selection, and provide strategic direction on where and how to compete in the federal market. BD Leads serve as a client's frontline advisor, monitoring platforms such as SAM.gov, GovWin IQ, GSA eBuy, and DLA DIBBS to ensure no viable opportunity is missed. They bring deep knowledge of federal procurement cycles, agency buying patterns, and a small business set aside programs to every client engagement.

BD Analysts

Our BD Analysts power the research and intelligence that keeps our clients' pipelines full and current. They conduct market research, track procurement trends, monitor agency forecasts, and maintain pipeline data so that our clients always have an accurate, up-to-date picture of their opportunity landscape. BD Analysts work closely with BD Leads and Capture Managers to ensure every pursuit decision is backed by solid data and clear understanding of the competitive environment.

SharePoint Developers

Our SharePoint Developers build the technology infrastructure that keeps our clients organized and operating efficiently. From custom pipeline trackers and opportunity dashboards to resume libraries, past performance repositories, and proposal collaboration workspaces, they design SharePoint environments tailored specifically to the needs of government contracting organizations. Their work ensures that our clients have the tools and systems in place to respond quickly, compliantly, and competitively when the right opportunity comes along.
